Relax with Lavender

Lavender season is coming up! At Mainely Cole’s we love lavender not only because it smells great, but because it relaxes you naturally.

Both scientific studies and copious amounts of anecdotal evidence indicate that lavender scented items affect your mood in positive ways. The calming and stress-relieving aspect of lavender scents has been used for ages as natural ways to relax after a stressful day (which we all have!) and even aides in helping you get a restful night’s sleep. This can be accomplished with spritzes of liquid scent on pillows or blankets, aromatherapy candles, scented baths, lotions or using our scented sachets

You might be asking yourself how lavender scented items really affect your mood…here is how:

The purple flowers of the lavender plant have been shown to work with your brain to create a feeling or relaxation and peace. This scent calms the mind and promotes a feeling of well-being. University of Maryland studies have shown how effective it is at helping people suffering from sleeping disorders achieve a long-lasting, deep sleep each night. So taking a bath with our Lavender Luxury Milk Bath or Emma’s Lavender and Chamomile Shampoo and Conditioner before bed might help with that insomnia of yours. Other research has linked lavender scented items to less depression, longer attention spans and even reduced blood pressure!

No matter what the studies say, showering yourself with lavender scented items makes it clear that they can affect your mood in positive ways. You might consider slathering on some lavender lotion as you go about your day-to-day business. It may just help you avoid losing your cool or feeling overwhelmed about what you need to get done. To calm a stressed out mind or encourage relaxation and sleep, fill your life with a little bit of lavender!
